Matraville Masjid offers prayer and wudhu facilities for both men and women, and is conveniently situated near shops and bus stops with plenty of surrounding parking options. The aspirations for the Matraville Masjid is to serve as the centre of Islamic and social activities for the Eastern Sydney Muslim communities.
Established in 2010 by the Eastern Sydney Islamic Welfare Services Incorporated (ESIWSI), the Masjid has provided, and continues to provide, several services and products to ensure that patrons and visitors are fully welcome and comfortable to be part of the positive growth of the local community as well as become well-educated, confident and outstanding members of the Australian community.
Aims & Objectives
The ESIWSI is established as a not-for-profit entity whose objectives are to:
Facilitate Islamic and social activities for Muslims in the Sydney Eastern Suburbs.
Establish and operate places of Islamic worship for five daily prayers, Friday Jumuah prayer, Eid prayers and Ramadan Taraweeh prayers.
Facilitate teaching and learning the Holy Qur’an, the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him), principles of Islam, and Islamic values and practices.
Facilitate the celebration of Islamic social functions such as Nikah (wedding), Akika (celebrate birth) and Duaa (special prayer).
Organise and conduct Muslim burials and participate in the maintenance of cemeteries for Muslims in cooperation with relevant organisations.
Provide help and assistance to communities in need; in times of natural disaster; or help with noble causes (e.g., fundraising for cancer research etc.)
